Sir David Attenborough at the Public Broadcasters Conference
Just had to get a shot of Sir David – he’s simply one of my favourite humans.
Sat in a front row seat at the Public Broadcasters conference.
Lit only by the glow from the overhead projector – the blue cast from the screen was quite unpleasant – that’s why I’ve rendered it in black and white
Technically challenging shot but with the Nikon 80-200 f2.8 it worked out well.
This was the conference, hosted by the BBC , that was taking place whilst the Jimmy Savile shit storm was gathering momentum and Lord MacAlpine had been slandered in a Newsnight programme on sex scandals.
Some very bad days at Auntie Beeb
George Entwistle, the Director General, spoke to the conference the next day.
Good speech but he was out on his ear by Monday !
Mind you a payout of almost half a million for 54 days can’t be sneezed at.
Talking of gifts The Public Broadcasters society gave one to Sir David too:
A nice framed picture, showing some of his greatest hits, to hang on the wall of his loo.
Not £500,000 but I’m sure it was greatly appreciated.
(Seems as though you’re paid better for screwing up than when you do something brilliantly for 60 years).
