This buzzy little city shifts up a gear at the weekend.
Families come out and the streets are filled with children and chatting parents.
However not for me the quiet life !!
I had an appointment at La Maestranza Theatre to photograph El Pele, apparently one of the great Spanish vocalists. I had been told that his voice was filled with “afila” which is that gravelly quality achieved by a diet of whiskey and cigarettes, which is so beloved of flamenco artists.
Well none of it – he has a sweet voice and it doesn’t sound at all abused.
A veritable Frank Sinatra.
After this I had an appointment to shoot some pictures at Museo del Baile de Flamenco (museum of flamenco dance). This is a place that takes flamenco very seriously and they have been very helpful to me. They have two programmes, don’t like to call them “shows” each night.
Two dancers, a guitarist and a singer.
They were so good (and the lighting was so bad) I stayed on for the second show.
To see if I could get better technical shots but also to see and her them again.
Problem is of course, that I have shot so many pictures I’m still editing.
Have been since first things this morning.
I could have put up a handful that have been adjusted but felt that wouldn’t do the artists justice and nor would it showcase my pix.
So you’re going to have to wait !
Going for lunch now.
Bullfight at 6 pm (yes a BULLFIGHT !)
And Granada in the morning.
So if you’re in a hurry to see these excellent flamenco artists I suggest you hop on a plane to Seville asap and get down to the museum and book yourself some front row seats – they are really that good.
Hasta Luego muchachos – back soon
